Pillow Talk

There is no greater feeling in the world then fresh sheets, and clean blankets. Climbing into tightly fitted sheets that smell of fresh linen, is a sign that you are loved. That someone in the world wants you to sleep well and comfortably.
Lying in bed is my favorite pass time. Surrounded by fuzzy, soft blankets, and a dozen pillows. Whether I’m watching my favorite movie for the eighty-seventh time, or curled up with my favorite book, if I’m in my warm bed I’m happy.
Waking up early in the morning is so difficult when your bed is hugging you tightly and you never want to let go. Stepping out of bed and into reality is the hardest part. Floating in a sea of blankets and pillows, like dreaming on a cloud. The only thing keeping you from being lost at sea, is the responsibilities you can’t leave on the shore.
Your bed can make minutes feel like seconds, and hours feel like moments. You lose track of the world when you’re in your bed. Like there’s no reality, no time, no worries. Just you and your thoughts, wonders, dreams. Your bed is your very own, a place to lose yourself or find yourself. A place to feel vulnerable and insecure, and nobody has to know about it. A place to cry, laugh, smile, scream. A place to get away from the world.

  1. Yes--clean sheets, a rainy Saturday morning, the newspaper, hot tea, nowhere to be for a while...I love that feeling.

  2. We all know what you're talking about in this narrative! I totally agree with a love to be lounging in bed, especially late at night when stories, discussions with myself, and just plain stray thoughts are running around in my head. It's the best place to get inspiration if you ask me. I mean, doesn't everybody love climbing into bed after being weeks on the road, or groan and want to punch the alarm clock every morning, or silently cheer to themselves when it's a snow day and they can stay snuggled under the warm covers? Besides a hug from a loved one, or a nice hot meal your folks made, I think one's own bed is the most comforting thing of being home. I really like your piece because you make me think of all these things when I'm reading it. Thanks a lot for reminding me of all that.

  3. I feel like this is so true, even if we don’t have to get up early in the morning. Especially since the weather outside is gradually getting colder. I love your line, “The only thing keeping you from being lost at sea, is the responsibilities you can’t leave on the shore” I think this is true in so many ways. To be honest, my favorite part of my house is my bed because of how cozy it is and if I didn’t have to go to school or go to work, then I might as well live in my bed! I also love all of your descriptive words. Good Job!
